Blue & Green Magnetic Polishes

Figure 1 Thumb to pinky: Lancome Blue Enigma, Layla Magneffect Metalic Sky,
Layla Magneffect Turquoise Wave, LCN Ferromagnetic Blue, LCN Green Temptation

Forgive me for the state of my cuticles. I recently purchased the Layla and LCN magnetic nail polishes in blue and green (my favorite colors, obviously)! The pinky's star is done with the Lancome magnet, ring finger's star is done with L'Oreal's Star Magnet's magnet, and the remaining stripes were from the Layla magnet on top of the cap. I found a separate magnet is easier to manipulate than one stuck to the cap, since I kept getting polish on my hands accidentally this way. I'm overall pleased with the results from these magnetic polishes, and I'm sooo excited for other magnetic polishes that I heard are being released in the near future.

Chanel Graphite

Without further delay, I present Chanel Graphite in all its glory! Graphite has a unique foil look to it, with specks of silver and gold glitter. It definitely makes my hands and nails stand out, and should be classified as a driving hazard due to the shininess. Application is decent, pictured below is 2 coats. First coat is a bit streaky but I found the 2nd coat evened it out.

Chanel temptation

I have been looking at the Chanel Fall 2011 Collection, Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel online for quite some time. It has been a debate of getting Graphite, Peridot or both...and I ended up caving and buying Graphite online yesterday night. I told myself that it would be okay to just buy only one. HAHAHA, that lasted 12 hours because lo and behold, I went to the mall and found the collection at the Chanel counter, and what did I do? I swatched the samples and then some like so...

And then disaster hit. I fell in love with Peridot, Mimosa AND Morning Rose. The sales person was no help at all ...she didn't talk me out of anything. So I ended up leaving with Peridot, Mimosa and Morning Rose...and I'm waiting for Graphite to come in the mail. Total tragedy. But I don't know which one I would return if I had to. *sigh* Anyways, I will post pictures of each polish later with my nice camera. :)

Oh yah, and how did I end up going to the mall? I was looking for something to paint my nails with for the Harry Potter movie tomorrow night. Yup, I'm super excited for HARRY POTTER and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2!! I'm going to the midnight showing tomorrow, which is sold out everywhere practically everywhere. Any suggestions?

To buy or not to buy?

Chanel Graphite and Peridot. Thoughts?

New home, new site, same blog!

Hello again! Thanks for following me to this new blog from: http://little-box-of-obsessions.blogspot.com
I decided that after 2 years, I should switch the blog over to the blog email address (for consistency's sake), and make the web address a little simpler. From now on, I will be posting on this blog (for the most part everything is the same), so if you want, you can follow this new site for updates.

It's been awhile...are you still there?

From "The Kitchen, the Closet, and the Laboratory..."

Hello! Long time no see! I'm not too sure if anybody still reads my blog anymore, especially since I haven't had proper time to devote to this blog. Since I last posted, a lot has happened. Here's a brief update:

I'm still in graduate school, but now I'm a doctorate student! I officially defended my Masters of Science thesis and degree (I can now put Grace, MS), passed my doctorate preliminary exams, and I am presenting at an international conference later this summer (which I am extremely nervous about since public speaking wigs me out)! I have also gotten into photography as a hobby after buying a DSLR camera as a reward for myself after my MS degree. Hopefully with this new camera, I can take tons of nice pictures of my nails :)

Unfortunately at the moment, my nails are in a very sad shape since they've been neglected. I resorted to the Sally Hansen nail stickers for a few weeks, and my nails haven't stopped peeling since. (refer to figure 1)

So what does this mean for my blog? I hope to return to posting as soon as I can, but I have decided I might need to clear out the closet yet again of old nail polishes that I never use anymore.

Would anybody be interested? Please comment below!

See you soon!
